The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has recently announced a new policy stating that the support of research incentives (equivalent to living expenses) will be limited to Japanese students.
For students currently receiving SPRING support and those who have been provisionally selected for the support starting from spring of 2026, the content of support will be continued for the standard period of study, regardless of nationality.
Please note that support for students who will be selected through applications in or after spring of 2026 has yet to be determined, and the application eligibility may also change.
