[How to Check Your Level with JCOS]

1. Please access Japanese Courses JS, ILA at https://js.ila.titech.ac.jp/~web/japanese.html#procedure
2. Please carefully read the Japanese Section website. If you are not yet registered, proceed with account registration and take the placement test.
3. From https://cuckoo.js.ila.titech.ac.jp/~yamagen/regist-h/, select “Check your current Japanese level.” → “check!”
4. Your level will be displayed. Please take a screenshot of this. (If your level is not displayed, you may need to take the placement test.)

Please submit a screenshot of your JCOS level screen or JLPT certificate.

• Please rename the file as; Student number_Name_Japanese level
• Only pdf, png, jpg, jpeg files are accepted.

Based on your responses,

your Japanese language level is assessed as [Advanced].

You are not subject to the obligation “4-2. Taking Japanese language and culture courses”.

Based on your responses,

your Japanese language level is assessed as [Upper elementary or Intermediate].

4-2-1. You are not required to take 2 credits of the Japanese courses “Basic Japanese 1” and “Basic Japanese 2”.
4-2-2. You have the option to select b4 (the choice is yours).

Based on your responses,

your Japanese language level is assessed as [Beginner].

4-2-1. You must take 2 credits of the Japanese courses “Basic Japanese 1” and “Basic Japanese 2” by the end of March, 2026.
4-2-2. You have the option to select b4 (the choice is yours).

Please ensure you fulfill the obligations detailed here by the deadline. If there are any reasons you cannot meet them, kindly provide details in the following “Additional Notes”.
